Person Specification

  • Extensive experience in the design of Pharmaceutical and BioPharmaceutical facilities for the cGMP production of biological and pharmaceutical drugs
  • Significant experience with industrial process control system including DCS, PLC and SCADA based systems
  • Significant experience with Pharmaceutical process instrumentation
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and controls components such as transmitters (temperature, pressure, pH, conductivity, level, load cells, flow), control valves, regulators, etc
  • Experience preparing preliminary and final design documents including P&IDs (AutoCAD), instrument schedules, specifications and calculations
  • Experienced with ISA standards and the interpretation of P&ID drawings
  • Experience with the development of cGMP and GAMP automation lifecycle documents

Job Role & Responsibilities

  • The Head of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering manages the utilisation, growth and development of professionals in the Instrumentation, Controls Discipline which is comprised of Automation Engineers, I&C Engineers, and Designers in the UK and Europe
  • Ensure consistent, high quality deliverables via reviews
  • Support business development with technical support, proposal generation and work hour estimates
  • Possess sufficient technical proficiency in the various facets of I&CF design to understand project requirements and apply the appropriate resources and execution approach for a successful project
  • Supports strategic company initiatives
  • Acts as a SME for specified Automation and I&C areas to support IPS’ general I&C engineering development

Qualifications

  • A BEng (Hons) in Instrumentation and Control Engineering or equivalent
