COVID ‘Right to Work’ checks extended


The end date for temporary COVID-19 adjusted ‘Right to Work’ checks has been postponed to 30th September 2022. The below checks will stay in place until this date:

  • Right to Work checks can be carried out over video call.
  • Prospective and existing employees can send over scanned documents or a photo of a document by email or mobile phone app for the purpose of a Right to Work check (rather than sending an original document).
  • The Home Office Employer Checking Service should be used by employers if prospective or existing employees cannot provide any of the accepted documents.

This ensures that Right to Work checks continue to operate in a manner which supports employers to implement post-pandemic working practices.
