Job Role & Responsibilities

  • Carry out all engineering functions necessary to develop and produce suitable design solutions and documentation ensuring compliance with the project requirements and codes of practice, and reports to the Group Head of Design (GHoD).
  • Produces arrangements and designs in accordance with the contract requirements under the guidance of, and liaison with the appointed Project Engineer or Manager.
  • Supports proposals/ bids with concept design, steel weight and engineering time estimations
  • Produces structural steelwork designs and analysis to support process equipment and plant which are compliant with the relevant codes and regulations
  • Ensures structural designs are delivered in line with the project scope, schedule and budget
  • Co-ordinating and reviewing 3rd party design input including preparing purchase requisitions, specifications, design and document review, change control
  • Provide foundation loads as required
  • Connection design for detailing purposes as required
  • Produce reports and attending progress meetings as requested by the Project Manager
  • Develop drawings from notes, sketches, existing drawings, design concepts, verbal instruction, and engineering specifications.
  • Liaise with internal and external civil, and/ or structural designers as required

Qualifications

  • Chartered in Structural Engineering
  • >10 Years experience within a similar field, designing structures for materials handling/ processing equipment
  • Experienced in working to the latest BS & Eurocode design standards
  • Proficient in the use of licensed design software, such as Tekla Designer and S-Frame
  • Comprehensive knowledge in design/drawing standards
  • Understanding of CE /UKCA regulations including design risk assessments
  • An understanding of manufacturing processes, in particular medium to heavy fabrication
